Voyager 1 Resumes Communication with NASA
Communication Restored After Weeks of Silence
The Voyager 1 spacecraft has resumed communication with NASA after several weeks of silence. The team received a clear message about the spacecraft's status on April 20 and expects to have the spacecraft fully operational soon.
A Journey into the Unknown
Launched in 1977, Voyager 1 has been faithfully sending back readings about its mysterious new environment. Now beyond the heliosphere, the boundary of the solar wind, Voyager 1 is sending back information about the interstellar medium.
A Legacy of Exploration
Like its predecessors Pioneer 10 and 11, both Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 were equipped with a simple plaque. Artists concept shows Voyager 1 against a starry background. The spacecraft launched in 1977 is now the most distant human-made object from Earth.
A New Beginning
Voyager 1 stopped sending readable science and engineering data back to Earth on Nov. 28, 2022. NASA Communicates with Ailing Voyager 1 Spacecraft Scientific American. Earth's most distant spacecraft, Voyager 1, has started communicating properly again with NASA.
